The fountainhead

So I just saw ”The fountainhead” directed by King Vidor from 1949. Based on the great romantic novel by Ayn Rand and sticks to the story. There are some problems here. Gary Cooper just doesn´t seem to know what he is doing or why and many lines are just said like reading of a cue card. It is clearly dated in many ways – I do think the book still holds for ideas even if the themes are a bit… Dated. This really makes the movie a bit dated as well. There are scenes that play marvelous and some that are just basically ridicoulus. Dominique Francon is a bit to obsessed with Roark. True, she is just as obsessed with Roark in the novel but the feeling is mutual more clearly there…

So, time spend reflecting I suppose.
